It's more than just a comedy or a sitcom. In fact, it proved to the world that African Americans can stand on par with Hollywood's elite. After running for nine seasons, Family Matters is the second-longest running non-animated US sitcom, behind The Jeffersons.

Even if you include animated sitcoms, the show ranks third behind Tyler Perry's House of Payne and The Jeffersons. However, it's fair to say that all of these shows have reached a legendary status of some kind.
